I recently purchased a new computer, an Intel dual-core 64-bit processor running Win7 Professional-64. I decided to change the name of the computer, and I followed the system instructions, as is described in your item . After rebooting, the computer name had changed, but my HomeGroup also retained the old name. I cannot figure out how to remove it. Naturally, it cannot find that computer, so troubleshooting is hopeless. I obviously cannot log on to that computer to remove it from the HomeGroup. Any suggestions?

I'm willing to edit the Registry directly, although I have not yet done so in Win7.

hi MidwestGeek , not sure if this is what you are trying to do but try this. You can always rename your computer to the old name so you can find the homegroup easier.
