Well I have a computer I built myself and it was working good for 6 months but now the PSU burnt out; it was 500w. I went and got another power supply that was a 480w and installed it.

The computer now had power but when I tried to start it up, it had lines going through the screen from the very second it started up. It gets to the windows XP loading screen and it just stops working.

Any ideas?

My good friend gave me the suggestion that my HDD could be failing but I thought I'd ask you guys as well.

what are the specs of your pc?, what video card do you have? all this will help us narrow down the problem.

If you haven't already done this, you may want to check and make sure all of your connections are good. It's pretty easy to bump a connection lose to a drive or a graphics card in a small to mid-sized case. Just make sure everything (power and data) is plugged in good!

if it has a 4 pin connector make sure it is plugged in to the mother board as well, most of the time it is located by the processor socket.
