My father has a Printer Lexmark 730 on his XP pro and works with no problem
I have win 8 and installed the printer 730 so I can print it from the network.

My computers name and my convention/work group are the same as my fathers.

I see and can get anything from his pc also can see the Lexmark printer.

The printer works on his end but I can't print from the network and don't see any errors.
I did connect the printer to my pc win 8 just to see if there may have been a problem anyway ... still print on my end.
reconnect the printer on my fathers pc XP. can't print.

I check the group policy on my end for printer ... maybe there something I didn't enable?

thanks spider

While the workgroup name must be the same the Computer Names must be different.

Sometimes a firewall will block the printer.
