If you have a virus in your system, you should go back to a Restore Point from before you had caught the virus. Go to: Start > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Backup and Restore Center > in the left pane on top, click "Repair Windows using System Restore". This will get you to the Wizard with which you can restore your system. Make sure you pick a restore point earlier than the Virus infection happened. Hopefully you have one. If Restore from that restore point does not work, it could be because certain files are active. In that case, try the same procedure in "Safe Mode". If you need help to do this, come back and ask.

I'm not sure but it sounds like you talking about software like Deep Freeze, Windows Disk Protection and Fortres Grand Clean Slate.
Those programs will erase any changes to the computer when it's rebooted. This includes any viruses you got while surfing.
Unfortunately, it usually also includes any data you save or programs you install.
Though Fortres Grand Clean Slate has an interface to exclude certain folders or files from being deleted so some user data and programs are saved.
I think the program is a little overkill to remove viruses and spyware myself.
