So i recently had a driver issue over the past few days. Some how, a driver and some files got corrupt and deleted. I managed to save my computer, but i would like to know how to keep the "install updates" out of my restore points and just keep my manually created restore points. Like the picture you'll see below of my current restore points, i just want the restore points like "Just Fix." (That restore point was made right after i fixed my computer). I have searched google but found nothing. Can anyone help?

Make one good restore point (delete the rest) and then disable System Restore. MS makes restore points at the drop of a hat and eat up disk space. Use a program called ERUNT instead, to make manual restore points (its also much faster)

So is that how the geek got these restore points? He just disabled system restore and created restore points on his own?

b.t.w. Ill still be able to use system restore if my computer crashes even though it's turned off right?

I would not presume to know how the Geek does it, but no, you cannot create manual restore points in MS System Restore with it disabled. However, (if using ERUNT) and the system crashes then start in Safe Mode and run ERDNT (ERUNTs restore program) from within the Windows directory(folder) to restore the registry of your choice
