I had some trouble with my computer recently, and it totally crashed down, nothing works on it, so im trying to recover windows, and i read somewhere to run a virus check from a CD, i insert it, and it tells me to push any key to boot from cd and continue, But nothing happens when i push it, what could be causing this?

Which CD are you using? Which problems are you having?

I would recommend to use a Windows Vista or Windows 7 install disk to select "Repair my computer" and run "Automatic startup repair". Here you can get an official Windows 7 install ISO (will repair Vista systems too):

Then you could use an Ubuntu Live CD to run a scan from there, here are the instructions:

You can use this CD to backup your files too:

You can download the Ubuntu Live CD from . Select 12.04 (32-bit version), and then on the next page go to the bottom and select "Not now, take me to the download".

Please post some more details, and ask if you have doubts.

The virus CD or any other CD must be a bootable one so you can use it.
