Well I have had my Internet working for years and the other day I connected my laptop to the Internet via Ethernet cable, two or three days later I get a message on my PC saying " windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine"

I don't know much about computers please help me. Thanks in advance

(I'm not sure if my laptops got anything to do with it just thought I would tell you)

Coupla' questions.

1. You said "two or three days later". So for the first couple of days, it was working?

2. Laptop or Desktop? It's not clear on what machine the connection failed. On the one hand, you referred to your laptop, but on the other you said "I get a message on my PC" "PC" is a generic term and can refer to either a laptop or a desktop . . . please clarify.

3. You've posted in the XP forum, so I assume both your laptop and your desktop have XP . . . is that correct?

4. Is a network card shown in device manager (on the laptop and desktop)?

The only thing I can think of right now, considering the questions I have, is that you can try reinstalling your network card with "Add New Hardware".

Have you tried rebooting your modem/router? You may also need to restart your computer/s afterwards.
