Please Help BIOS

I am working on a Compaq Presario SR2010NX .. for some reason if anything is plugged into a usb port then the computer wont boot up. I know it needs to be changed in the BIOS. Problem is when I access the BIOS it wont read the keyboard. I have tried both a usb and a Ps2 keyboard but neither one will work once in BIOS. Both work fine in windows thou. I would use it for target practice but im trying to fix it for a friend.. Any ideas???

Tarzann187 hi. Obvious answer is don't have anything plugged into USB on bootup.

Tarzann187, this is quite an old machine and will surely be USB 1.1. Disconnect all USB connections on reboot, have only the ps/2 connected, and KB should work.

Any reason why you are in BIOS?

Trying to get it to start normally rather than having to go thru the hassle of having to unplug every usb when he wants to use it
