I think I am having some difficulties. For the past week, my folders are all appearing yellow. On my quick launch bar, the short cut to my other internal hard drive looks pixely.
I've tried to delete it and add it back again but it does not go away. I am almost 100% sure both of these problems are the effects of the same thing that is causing it. I am thinking it is being caused by my graphics card, but I am not entirely sure. My graphics card has never had problems before.

I have a 8400 GS EVGA graphics card.

Hi Shun. Um, not sure, but try deleting your icon cache first. It is located (typically) at,
C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\IconCache.db
Reboot

I opened it with notepad and i can select all then delete but will that corrupt my system? In the Local folder I don't see it, the only way I can see it is if i put the direct link to it in

It will not corrupt your system by deleting the IconCache.db

So can i just open the file in notepad, select all and delete, and save? Because I cannot physically see the file to delete it

Open Folder Options > View, and set your hidden files and folders to view, and also system files.
Now you should see it.

I didn't think it would, but had to check. Get back to you.

Also it all started when I loaded a game called "Diablo II" the game has a low resolution and pretty crappy graphics because it is old, and after I ran it this happened.

I don't know if that information will help, but I am pretty sure that was the cause of the problem. I have also tried loading it again to see if it would go away but it never did.

Easiest (maybe only) way would be to go back to a Restore Point from before you installed Diablo.

Edit. If you right click on one of those folders, select Properties > Customize > Change Icon. Do the Folder Icons in the selection box show as Yellow too ? (look in both shell32.dll, and imageres.dll)

Well this is the problem.

As you can see at the top 2 i applied the brown colored folder to the right. They are being set to some random folder and it doesnt even have a picture preview. What should I do next?

I didn't say change anything, just look and see if they are yellow too.
Now do they same, but change that shell32.dll to imageres.dll in the search box.

in imageres.dll there are 3 blank icon files. They just show up as a white box.

Looks like the imageres.dll has been corrupted (and who knows what else).
Can you go back to a Restore Point ?

No I do not have a backup and I really don't feel like reformatting because it takes me 2 days because of all the programs I'll have to reinstall

Open a Command Prompt (as Administrator), and run the command,
sfc /scannow
