Haha
My friend tells me of something called a forkbomb

apparently this is some sort of batch file
that creates a file, that duplicates itself, so then there are two, that each duplicate, so then there are four
etc etc

and apparently if this goes on long enough, it can physically blow up your RAM, because it is tryinto do so many things at once!
follow?

so, i was wondering if you guys knew anything about them
the wikipedia article isnt very helpful :(

Never heard of it. A while ago someone had a virus on his system that did something similar. It loaded the CPU to 100%. The thing came from China.

I used to use a batch file like that for overwriting deleted hard drives.

me and my friends used to send things kind of like that to each other some times but they weren't batch file they were cmd files and we would write them so that when opened it would pop up like a 1000 windows and just freeze the system never had any problems though with things going bad and such.

ya i seen that point. and we also used to see who's pc could last the longest before it froze. kinda funny for a while but it got old really fast and i wonder how the batch file could really blow the ram hmmm.. i guess we wait for someone who might know or who has actually tried it out.
