I think there are ways to secure your connection so that somebody else can't use it. But maybe somebody more experienced with this scenario can jump in.

The only (normal) way he could do that, is to hack into your wireless system. Can you see any other wireless networks (apart from your own) in "Connect to"?

Well,i dont use the wireless option ie connect to any wireless or local networks, just through my isp. But because im using a "dongle" i just wondered if it was secure. After all, all my stuff is going through airspace and not a cable.

I would have a look. See, just how many of your neighbours are using wireless connections.

one quick thing you can try is to log into your Router's admin panel and look for a "attached devices" or something similar. say for example you only have one computer, and there are two or more connected, then you know someone is on your system.

i don't think that they would be able to do this because it work as if it was cellular phone and in order to do it i think they would have to hack into it with their own connection first which wouldn't make any sense to steal yours if they already have their own

@jack. Unless you have your WiFi turned off, anyone can get in!

Yeah. It works on the same principle as a mobile, but much quicker. (hspda)

I understand. But is your laptop wireless still enabled when you use this. Even tho you are not using your laptop wireless?

I understand. In that case, yes, you could be hijacked, BUT, very unlikely. The sort of equipment needed runs into a lot of money. Do you live next to a stingy, money-grabbing millionaire?
