I have had the same custom build for the past few years, and am in the process of upgrading parts. I have already purchased an EVGA Z77 FTW , and a 7.1 sound card . These are already shipping, and I honestly did not even think to look at what is now concerning me. The card says that it connects via PCI, and the details of the Z77 board make mention only of PCI express expansion ports.

Have i missed something in the board I purchased, or will I actually not be able to connect the sound card?

Disregard... My fears were accurate. I am going to purchase a PCIe card and RMA the PCI card upon its arrival.
