Anderson, my pc with the same processor (AMD 5600+) and similar spec is running 27-30c on idle. Ambient temp is about 18c.

my pc is well cooled as well i think:

80mm fan blowing in from rear
80mm fan blowing in at psu
70mm fan on cpu
120mm exhaust fan on case side panel

I AM RUNNING ON A 512 ATI GRAPHICS CARD,BUT ONBOARD NVIDIA HEAT SINK SEEMS HOT
I EXPECT THIS IS NORMAL
IF NOT, CAN YOU ADD A HEATSINK ON TO A HEATSINK TO HELP COOLING?

i did have the 120mm exhaust fan reversed so it was blowing on to cpu fan wich kept cpu well cool.
but i didnt want all the fans blowing into the case,as the 120 fan blowing onto the cpu fan increased the revs of the cpu fan

anderson. You can edit your posts for 30 minutes. Please do that rather than creating new ones every few minutes. Thankyou.

Anderson, I've found aiming case fans directly at your CPU fan can adversely affect temps. I guess it inhibits airflow (turbulence maybe?)rather than boosting it.

I assume you have cleaned the heatsink and fan recently? If it's clogged with dust it's never going to work properly.

My PC is a Dell (groan) with a very restricted BIOS, so to get my CPU fan running at full speed I detached the fourth wire on the CPU fan from the plug and taped it back with insutating tape. It's still quiet enough, only difference is it now cools properly :)

blowing onto heatsink

some people say have it other way to draw heat away rather than blow air on,but that seems soft.
fan was supplied blowing on-to
wich makes sense to me

That seems illogical to me, because you are blowing dust into the heatsink, which will build up quicker than it would with the fan blowing away from it.

but why is it supplied that way?
surely the cpu is gona be kept cooler this way, and if you clean heatsink regularly then hey presto

about every 6 weeks when i clean pc, there is a tiny amount of dust on heatsink
and i have a 120mm exhaust fan oposite cpu fan,so alot of dust is gona get drawn out
evidently

I will gladly accept critisism for this, but to my way of thinking, your side and cpu fans are opposing each other.
And you are blowing the heat from the PSU into the computer.

upright case
side panell on left hand side blowing air out

m/board and cpu on right side
cpu fan blowing in

upright midi tower
would be no good for psu fan to be sucking air out cos psu wouldnt be cooled enough
and exhaust fan and psu are sitting higher than cpu

dont be playing on my paranoia LH
am no genieus but not thick either
