Patch Tuesday(22 posts)
That's odd - I was only offered 14 updates.
But you know - I still do not have SP1 installed (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)
Do you think that might be related to why I was only offered half as many updates ?
Also - would you recommend that I still install SP1 at this point - even though I am current on all my Windows Updates up until today ?
I did install it around the time I joined HTG, but ran in to a few conflicts and decided to uninstall it. I'd be willing to give it another try if you think it wise.
Thanks to everybody for their helpful replies.
@ ronniesonora - It had never occurred to me that the updates might be specific to a 32 or 64 bit system. That's good to know.
@ Xhi and LF - I had just relegated SP1 to the "Hidden Updates" list and hadn't given it much thought until recently.
I think your advice is well-taken and I will install it sometime over the next few days, when I have the time - and assuming all goes well, I will then install these latest updates released today.
I'll report back to let you know how it turns out - and thanks very much for your helpful input.
Okay - so, if I understand this correctly - I will first have to install SP1, after which I will be presented with a large menu of additional updates that I will need to get up to speed.
However, I can always install those additional updates in increments, over a period of consecutive days - right ?
All SP1 does is consolidate all the previous patches and a few more into one big update so that if a re-install is necessary there is no need for individual patches up to that point. It's a cleanup of all that has gone before. From that point on patches are continued to be issued. It is all the patches since SP1 was issued that will have to be installed.
