Party - Is today

There is a party coming up on the 31st June. I give you due warning, so as to prepare.
This is a prelude to a much bigger party soon after.

And if anyone knows what this party is for. Please don't just blurt out the answer. But give a seriously cryptic clue.

They are all part of the same genus, all ferrets are weasels but not all weasels are ferrets.....

Yes..I know about Weasels and ferret and stoats and polecats etc.
I've had a few ferrets, and also a Welsh wild polecat, that was given to me, after it's mother had been shot. I called him Percy. He was so gentle (even when massive). And always played like a kitten. :)
