Click on Personalize and you get "Page not Found"
Click on Windows Update (from any number of ways) and you get "Page not Found"
etc etc Happens in most windows from control panel that does not open a dialog box. i.e. Folder Options, or Internet Options work, all other control panel items i get "page not found"
Also many of my icons show up as the old "unknown icon so here's a generic icon". This includes all harddrive, CDs, mp3s, avi files, and folders.

I went thru and did a few of the how-to-geek vista tweaks and somewhere in there i lost all my icons and control panel.

How do i fix?????

fletch ... from the sounds of it I would do a system restore.

Without knowing what you did with the "tweaks" your best bet would be a restore.

Remember, it is always recommended to backup your system or create a restore point before making any major changes.

I tend to agree.

I've been considering adding a static note to every vista page suggesting creating a restore point... might be a good idea.

The only caveat being if you suspect a virus. Then returning to an earlier point could do more harm than good.
