I just bought a new computer and amy trying to get my Outlook data file to the new one from the old one. I copied the .pst file to the new computer, but it either says "you do not have permission to open this file" or it opens part of it and won't open the calendar or contacts. Itried exporting just the calendar and the contacts, in a .pst format, but when I try to open it on the new computer, it still says I "don't have permission to open this file." What can I do to get this data into the new computer?? I have read as much as I can on "help" etc. and am still stymied.

Thanks!

Sally

Did you copy the .pst to the default location for Outlook? Does anyone else use the computer? Run "Scanpst" on the .pst file, it may be corrupt. You can search for this file, it should exist in every copy of office buried deep in the folder structure. When it completes, it should open.
