Strange issue with my Vaio. My CD/DVD drive only recognizes burned discs. I have trouble shot the Device Manager and everything is correct; but for some reason when I go to reinstall programs from their original disc, it will just search for the disc. Please help.

try uninstalling any drivers that you might have installed or updated. (thoroughly) then ...
shutdown > remove the drive > boot up > shutdown > reinstall the drive > boot back up.

test it out.
