opening emlx files

What is the best way to open Apple e-mail files (copied on a disk and sent to me)? When I Googled it, a list of services offering "free" programs to open these files came up. Can they be trusted? Any other ways to open them?

I think the only way is to convert them to another format you can use with your Windows email program.
If a program is recommended from a trusted site like about.com (a popular web site owned by The New York Times Company) then you should be able to trust that program.
