freegerman, hello. I know this may be getting tiring, but I think that it is the folder association that is causing your problem. You can check to see if it's corrupted from a Command Prompt window by running:

ftype folder

The correct output should look like this:

C:\> ftype folder
folder=%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /idlist,%I,%L

Even if that is the same for you, try the association fix for Folder because it fixes more than just this one setting.

You don't have to run those commands. Just use the "folder" fix from the list of association fixes that LH posted above.

Sorry if I was vague. The 10th link down on the "Windows XP File Association Fixes" webpage says:

Folder Association Fix (Restore default associations for File Folders)

The first part is a link that you click on to download a file named "folder_reg.zip". Open this zip file to find the file named "folder_reg.reg". Launch that folder_reg.reg file (double-click on it) to apply the registry fix.

freegerman, it never hurts to scan for viruses and malware, but the behavior that you describe does not sound like this. Try running the system file checker to see if it finds any protected system files that are missing or corrupt. From a Command Prompt, enter:

sfc /scannow

I did a simple Google search for your problem, and it provided me with a couple of options, all virus related.

1: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When.....e-clicking

2: http://forums.techguy.org/wind.....-open.html

3: http://en.kioskea.net/forum/af.....e-clicking

Or better yet:

'Google Search Results'

Good luck :P
