In Windows 7 is there some way to have folders and files previously opened close as you open another file? For example I open a folder and then open a folder inside the original folder and then open a file from the second folder. I now have 3 windows open. Is it possible to make Window close the proceeding file or folder as I open the sub file or folder?

Go to folders options in control panel and in General tab, set to open in same window.
