All motherboards have both Northbridge and Southbridge. It describes the position of two mini-processors that facilitate communications between interfaces in your computer, such as IDE, SATA, PCI, ect.
Your on-board graphics is neither of these. To disable on-board graphics, Press Windows Key + Pause. In the upper left, click Device Manager. Now open up the Display Adapters tree. You will, of course, need to know what the on-board video is called to disable it. Right-click the proper one, and click Disable. Reboot your PC.

I prefer to do mine in Windows. Should my primary card fail for any reason, its a simple mater of booting to safe mode and turning the on-board on. Disabling in BIOS may create problems should my primary card ever fail.
That is just me though, I plan for everything, heh.
