I have had Norton (now Roxio) GoBack on my computer and decided to uninstall it. I first disabled it and let GoBack remove its data from each partition on my HDD, as I want to switch my o/s from XP to Win-7.. Unfortunately, GoBack failed when partway thropugh this operation and completely wrecked my HDD so that I cannot start my computer. This is the Second computer where I have experienced this same problem. I had to replace the HDD on that occasion, as there appears to be no way to rectify this problem. Norton/Roxio will not provide a solution. Can anyone suggest an answer, short of replacing yet anothe HDD?
Can you also warn other users to avoid installing this program, as it is worse than any virus I have ever encountered.
Any help will be appreciated

Norton GoBack Removal
(3 posts)Norton products can usually only be removed with their special removal tool. Maybe you want to try that. Else, the Revo Uninstaller does a good job too. You have to use the "advanced" option (option #4) and delete all registry entries and files left behind.
GoBack hooks itself into the MBR and Partition table it seems, hence why the drives were 'wrecked'.
I'd check these 2 Symantec pages :
http://service1.symantec.com/S.....1206595007
http://service1.symantec.com/S.....2611363307
Note: Roxio and Symantec are interchangeable here and if you don't see it under Roxio, use Symantec.
