Ok, my computer is fairly new, have vista home premium. Did a backup to disks months ago but for some reason some of it went to the recovery drive. Since then, have done full system recoveries, from partition and from Best Buy provided disks. No matter what I do the D drive remains having only 7% free while the C drive has 85% free. Can anyone tell me how to take some of the free space from the C drive and add it to the D drive so that my computer stops spitting out error messages saying that "D drive is too full", "is affecting performance" and is actually slowing my computer down compared to what it was. Thanks.

No Space on Vista (D) Recovery Drive
(4 posts)Sounds like your recovery disk has some of your backup files. Just go and delete them. On D: there should be only one folder visible: "Recovery". All others are hidden.
Problem occurs because the file backup assumes D: as default. You may want to read this thread where we discussed the problem extensively:

PS. Apart the ennoying message there is no harm done. D: really does not need any free space. If you cannot cure the problem with the above, come back. Then we'll resize the shadowstorage on D:
I hope they did not talk you into deleting the "hidden" files. It sure sounds like it with 80% free space. Now your recovery partition will most likely not function any more. Those HP techs don't know what they are doing. I hope you have burnt the 2 recovery DVD's. Then you can theoretically delete everything that's in D:. You can always recover with your DVD's. If not, you better ask HP to send you a recovery disk just in case one day you'll need it. Just a question: After they made you delete all those files, do you now find funny files (like a sheet of paper with a cogwheel on it) in your normal folders?
