Just purchased a Compaq Presario c500 laptop and there is no sound. Called HP support and they could not resolve this issue. Must send unit back. Thought I might get some help here before sending it back. Get sound with external speakers, also get sound when in the bios setup page. But not when in windows. Thanks

You'll have to pick whatever version of the Presario c500 laptop you have and which operating system.
