I have created a folder and copied some of my photos in it. Later in another folder in the same drive, I have copied some other photos.

Now I want to cut the second folder and paste this in the first folder. While doing so, Windows is showing some dialog box mentioning some thing like 'You require some administrative permissions to perform this action'. If I click on 'Continue', it is showing that 'This action can not be performed' with two buttons 'Try again' and 'Cancel'. If I click on 'Try again' the same dialog box is repeatedly appearing. I could not perform that action.

I don't know how the permissions got changed. Nobody uses my laptop except me and I have not done anything related to those permissions.

Please help me. Thank you.

Instead of "cut" on the 2nd folder, try "copy", or "move". You can do this just by dragging it there. Left mouse button for automatic copy. Right mouse button for a choice.

Try to copy or move with this facility: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto.....lick-menu/

Thank you very much LH for your quick response and resolution. My problem got resolved. But, how has it worked?

What happens when it has been cut or copied?

They work through different processes. Please don't ask me to explain. Even things that don't work with copy, can work with move.

p.s., I never, ever use cut and paste for files or folders.
