I'm using Windows Vista with IE7. When I right click on the explorer icon and then the properties tab, other properties appear instead of internet properties. How can I rectify it? Would appreciate if anyone can help me to solve the problem.

No internet properties in explorer icon
(8 posts)I would assume that you have a shortcut on your desktop instead of the actual icon.
The first link will show you how to show Computer, User Files, Network, Control Panel, and Recycle Bin. I have included it because I do not know if SP1 was out when this article was written, and thus Internet Explorer could be a choice in the list now.
The second link will add the icon to the desktop, if it is not available as a choice in the first. For simplicity, download the file The Geek wrote.

Hope this answered your question and welcome to the How-To Geek Forums.
adroit463, welcome to the forum. I suspect that you are probably right-clicking on the Default Browser icon pinned to the top of the Start Menu. To get to Internet Options, use Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options. Or, while IE7 is running, find it in the "Tools" drop-down menu.
To put the icon into Start, do the following:
1. Right click on the internet page in question and click "Create shortcut". That will put a shortcut on your desktop.
2. Hold down the Shift key whilst you right click on the icon that you created on the desktop. That will bring up an extended context menu from where you can click "Pin to Start menu"
Hi, I've managed to solve the problem thru the following link and I've got it back on the start menu. Thanks all for the help I've received.
