I'm fed up with hundreds of feeds about the news - is there one that has the most important stuff with links to them all for more in depth reading?

How about the BBC. They are pretty good. I use TV5 which is pretty good too.

The big problem is that what some people find newsworthy isn't the same as what other people would find.

Typically Google News tries to group things together into topics...
