I have an old machine (8 years) that has a frazzled motherboard.

I tried to put the harddrive into another old machine and when it got to the Windows 2000 screen it blue screened. (When I set it to slave I could access all the files no problem)

I had a look on the internet and I've found that I need to reinstall the motherboard so that it finds the hard drive. The harddrive runs Win 2000 and from what I can tell I need to reinstall Win 2000. I don't really fancy doing that.

If I get an old PC and swap the harddrives, how would I make it run with the old harddrive. It's just that I have some programs on the hard drive that I need to get information off.

p.s. I have ordered a new PC.
