Display Port is a new port that replaces DVI and HDMI connectors. It is being used on some devices but will probably not replace DVI and HDMI for PCs and TVs any time soon (This is just my guess based on the amount of already shipping monitors and TVs without Display Port, not many people will want to buy new displays just for that).
Apple seems to adopt new standards a lot faster then PCs (This is also just my guess due to Macs having things like USB Keyboards and Mice far earlier then PCs) and is in the process of making all their products use Display Port.

thanx jd,
the benefits of the display port dont seem to be that huge for a global turn around. i certainly havent been persuaded and will be sticking with my current screen for a few more years thats for sure.
