I have two PCs. One Vista Business OS and other XP OS.
On the Vista network map only see a Media device on the XP only, and the Vista PC.

I can map a network drive from Vista to XP and have full access to the files on XP which has a shared drive.

I can map a network drive from XP to Vista, see the names of a main folder (set as shared) and all its sub folders, but can't get to the files in most of the folders as I get "permission denied, see your administrator".

Have I missed a step in setting up networking ? Setting up a network between XP and my old 98 systems was so easy. XP - Vista is causing issues.

Suggestions anyone.

do you use a password when logging into your XP machine? i encountered a similar problem between our desktop (XP) and my laptop (vista home premium), i read somewhere that you should (could) try putting a password in the XP machine. after that, when you try to open a folder from XP to Vista, you'll be prompted by a username and password (use the one that you put in XP).
