Blue8817, are you using Nero Home? It is a media center, something like the Windows Media Center built into Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. I suggest that you disable Nero Scout and Nero Home. I prefer to have Nero only run when I ask it to, but like so many programs it wants to install background tasks and services that you don't need.

* Go to Start -> All Programs -> Nero -> Nero Toolkit -> Nero Scout. Uncheck the box "Enable Nero Scout"
* In a Run box (Win+R), enter "serivces.msc". In Services, stop the service NMIndexingService and disable it.

By the way, what is the application name that has "stopped working" in that error message?

I had been using nero 8( downloaded from net along with the serial ) for around one month. Now I have started getting a pop up asking me for Third Party Patent Activation whenever I open a media file using nero showtime. If I cancel the activation then the showtime does not work.
It wants me to connect to the net for that. I do not want to connect my pc to the net for some reasons.
How to get rid of the popup and get the nero working.

@Blue
Try CDBurnerXP instead. Completely free and has all functionality to burn media.

rupeshkp728, if you don't allow the Patent Activation utility to access the Internet, you will not be able to use those features. It's a one-time activation, as far as I know. You are allowed to use the programs that require activation without it for 30 days. That is why you are now seeing this patent activation pop-up after 1 month of use. In the FAQ from Nero, they provide an e-mail address. You might be able to get an activation by e-mail.

CDBurnerXP is a great program in my opinion (also works with Vista), not so bloated as Nero, and with a few other programs Burnnn and ImgBurn just as good. Maybe your firewall is blocking the Patent Activation from calling home. The Patent Activation is an .exe file I think and can be found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nero\Shared\NL3 so clicking on it should make your Nero want to register. (Somebody correct me if i´m wrong)

@rupeshkp728
No, you cannot create a VCD layout with CDBurnerXP. You can, however, use VCDGear to make an ISO image of a VCD and burn that with CDBurnerXP.

To burn cd I have recently downloaded cdrtfe-1[1].3.2.exe from net.
When I am trying to burn some video files then I am getting errors and not able to burn them.
The error I am getting is :-
Supported modes: TAO PACKET SAO SAO/R96R RAW/R16 RAW/R96R
/Program Files/cdrtfe/tools/cdrtools/cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot
open '/cygdrive/C/Rupesh/data/x.cue'.

It is not able to get some .cue file.
Any idea as how to resolve this.
