I suppose if the awesome Win7 Start Menu's search box is dead (and how it would pull results from files, settings and programs), and I need to use the following keyboard shortcuts to filter the search results for what I want to fine....
I.E.

Win+Q = apps
Win+W = settings
Win+F = files

... I have to ask if there a program I could use to change those shortcut key combinations which make sense to me?
E.G.
Win+A = apps
Win+S = settings
Win+F = files

I think you might accomplish this by using AutoHotKey and the command
#a::
Send #q
Return.

Where the # represents the Windows Key.

I think Windows 8 has keyboard shortcuts built in somewhere. Let me just find the Control Panel option to do so. I may be wrong though.

But just right clicking in the lower left corner and selecting search then click on the one you want seems easier to me.
