Need Help!!!'(22 posts)
If the old drive is correctly installed in the enclosure and is not showing up as a lettered drive using your new laptop (can you use somebody else's computer with the enclosure to make doubly sure?) then something is terribly wrong. Can you install a different drive in the new enclosure to rule out that hardware as a problem? If you absolutely have to find something on the drive in question, you need to send or drop it off to a drive recovery company, which costs buckets of cash, even then they may not be able to recover what you need. If you try to take the enclosure to a 3rd computer, it may infected with something, so don't hose a third PC! If no drive letter is detected on the 3rd PC when you hook up the USB enclosure you won't even be able to do a virus scan.
Use a back-up system from now on. Search for Macrium Reflect in this forum to find a great **Free** solution, one which could have saved your bacon in this case. Sorry for your strife.....
