Im running winxp ultimate and firefox....each time I want to throw something in the bin or even right-click and delete it refuses. A box appears with something like "cannot delete" cannot find the path or location.

As a temporary fix, go to the recycle bin Properties and check the box 'delete immediately'.

Use this, and delete the entire bin folder (it will remake itself)
