i notice that HOG often suggest people use free open source software, so do i bite the bullet and purchase the software or??? thanks

Many of us here on HTG,recommend Malawarebytes FREE Version...

When installing you probably did not uncheck the item in the last window which said something about a free "trial". Look carefully on the pop up window there should be a choice to simply continue using the free version.

Very true Xhi, I just installed the latest for a friend and they were very crafty about leading you to install the trial version.

good stuff. Buy It!.

as the mod noted the free version is always recommended but do realize that a full / paid version will get you the real-time protection and some other tools / features ...
