I have a 1.5 year old Dell inspiron 1564-i5, two weeks ago while I'm running my anti virus scanner when my system froze, I turned it off and turned on after a few minutes but to my surprise windows won't load anymore. I run the diagnostic and I got the error code 2000-0146 which according to Dell blog search it's a bad hard drive. I changed the hard disk using my slightly used formatted spare HD and tried to load windows 7 back but it won't load completely, it says loading windows but it will not go through and displaying the message ”0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO)”
Please help! Thanks much in advance.

The spare HD should be prepared on the machine with DiskPart BEFORE attempting to clean Install the O/S again.

Also Reseat the memory modules again.

Daveh, I have downloaded the UBCD4WinV360 and tried to boot my laptop into the CD drive but it won't recognize it, just doing the same thing.
Rick P, The spare HD came from my other working machine which I resently upgraded

Thanks for the help,

Abe

Update: I re formatted my HD, removed and reseat my Ram, removed and after 5 mins reseat cmos battery. Now I am trying to re install windows 7.
I set the date and time on my BIOS but I also read BIOS shadowed and Video Shadowed. I used the BIOS default setting and continue the installation.
Now my screen display " STARTING WINDOWS " but seems like froze because its been like these for 30 mins.
Guys I'm still stucked with it, I need help.

abesupremo,

Follow my instructions EXACTLY to Setup Hard Drive Geometry for a one partition clean install.

Using a FULL Win7 Genuine Installation DVD, do this:

Start DVD Installation Process

At First Halt Screen, Press (SHIFT + F10) keys for a Command Prompt

Type in Each Command and Press <ENTER> Key as follows:

1. DiskPart <ENTER>

2. list disk <ENTER>

3. select disk X <ENTER> (X should be the number of the installation HD)

4. clean all <ENTER> (Will Take a While)

5. create partition primary align=1024 <ENTER>

6. format fs=ntfs <ENTER> (Will Take a While)

7. assign <ENTER>

8. active <ENTER>

9. exit <ENTER>

10. exit <ENTER>

11. IMMEDIATELY Click Out, TERMINATE install process and reboot.

12. Start Clean Installation Process again from DVD without a format.

Post Back.

Hi Rick P.,
Maybe this is strange but the first halt screen won't even show. What it does when I boot it with windows 7 disc the screen will display "Windows is Loading files" then after awhile " Starting Windows" will be displayed then either it will freeze or shuts off by it self.
Please help.
Thanks, Abe.

When the computer boots with the Win7 Install DVD in it, you don't get a black screen with
writing which says "Press Any Key" ????

Sounds like some kind of custom disc.

Download your Windows 7 EXACT Edition and VERSION here.

Will take between 6 and 12 hours for the ISO to download.

Then we'll burn it to a DVD to install.
