Hi, we just recently bought a new HP computer that came with windows Vista. Lately we have been having a problem with the sleep mode. Whenever we are on the computer activly working or playing a game the monitor will go black and state "mointor going to sleep" the problem then gets worse cause we cant wake the monitor up, we have to turn the computer off and then on again. I even went to control pannels and disabled the sleep option. Just wondering if any one had any ideas on how i can fix my sleep problem........thanks

I have a new HP computer with Vista Home Premium - when I put it into the sleep mode, it wakes up by itself within about 30 minutes.
I wonder if this is another goof of Vista or is it HP goofing up?

Dear Tanya:

I have almost same case as you, let me state my case first; one morning I was browsing the internet for about 30mins or so while suddenly the monitor went blacked out and a pop-up display appeared "monitor going to sleep" I tried to revive it but to no avail. So I pressed the on button off for the cpu for a restart, I curiously examined the inside of the cpu becoz I felt his HOT temp at the back panel of the CPU. After I removed the cover I found out that ONE of the sata cable was dipped into the cooling fan of the Video card preventing it from rotating. So I repositioned the sata cable and wait to cool it down. After which I initiate to restart again. Maybe check your cabling inside becoz it might preventing the fan to rotate thus affecting the air circulation inside. Remember that today's graphic cards consume alot of POWER! as in PoWER... By the way mine is consuming about 400Watts
