How can I set the volume to muted and shutdown the monitor at once? I already have the shortcut to shutdown the monitor.

Right. Open Notepad, and paste in the following 2 lines,

"C:\Windows\nircmd.exe" mutesysvolume 1
"C:\Windows\nircmd.exe" cmdwait 1000 monitor off

Save the file as VolMonOff.bat

Copy that file, and the nircmd.exe file to the C:\Windows folder

Right click on VolMonOff.bat and select Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
Name the shortcut as pleases you.

You will have to create another shortcut for the unmute command. See here,
