Missing explore icon for CD/DVD

Hi all
I have Windows XP Pro, when I Put CD or DVD in the drive and want to explore the contents of it I will right click on the drive icon (D) and when it opens the seletion window there is no Open or Explore or Search icone for me to click on.
Can you help me find these icon's?

Device Manager> highlight computer name, right click> Scan for Hardware Changes.

If this does not help, from Devive Manager> View> Show Hidden Devices> find your CD/DVD drive, Uninstall. Reboot, then follow the above by scanning for Hardware Changes.

Did this happen all of a sudden?

Also - perhaps the Shell Hardware Detection Service has been disabled?

Thanks for the info but none of this worked.

Ran virus and reg's checks and found nothing and yes this happen all of a sudden.

Still looking for help

Hmm. Well when this happened to me in 2001, when XP was first released ^_^ I just did a full reformat.
