Hi all, for anyone using MSE, it seems to be having problems with auto-updating. According to some of the articles I have read it sometimes takes up to 8!! days. So if you are using MSE then make sure that you manually update the latest definitions everyday. Matt

EDIT: I checked mine today and it was 3 days old

Thanks Matt. That's good to know. I use it for my win7. Will chack that later.

LOL LH, my pleasure Wolfgang. Apart from the auto-updating it seems to be a really good AV/Malware scanner scoring pretty high in tests. There is a workaround using the task scheduler, I´m just trying to get my head around it before posting. Matt

I just checked. My last update was 3 hours ago. I guess I was lucky.

Good, maybe they´ve fixed the problem, I don´t know. It was written in the latest (Saturday) c´t magazin in Germany. For anyone that can read German, it´s here!!!

Create a shortcut to this:
"%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Security Essentials\MpCmdRun.exe" -signatureupdate

OK, here´s a workaround: type regedit (Vista or W7) in the search box or run, regedit (XP) , you will need to be logged in as administrator.

Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft Antimalware/Signature Update then double click on "SignatureUpdateInterval" then change the DWORD Value" for "SignatureUpdateInterval" to 3 (default is 24) then your MSE should be updated every 3 hours. Matt

EDIT: Or as above :)
