Here is a Video tutorial How to remove Microsoft Groove if you can stand the accompanying music. It deals with Office 2007, though so it may not apply. It simply recommends using the normal add remove tools. In that case if you find an older version already installed then I would use RevoUninstaller in advanced mode to remove it and all remnants.
However, I would recommend that you choose Custom installation and select not to install Groove 2007, unless you know what it is and are used to using it.
