I don't know if it's me being stupid but i have the latest firefox and the latest met office, but i don't have manchester as an area in the north west. in the north west there is no liverpool, manchester, blackburn or many of the major cities. is there anyway to get the areas or select the north west in general - as i don't think you can do that either!

any help would be appreciated!

Can you maybe clarify the question a bit?

treadkiler, he's speaking UK English not US American English, I think we will need to leave this one in very capable hands of our friends across the pond.

@robertdanmorris. Do you mind if I email you?
What you are asking is far too complicated for us to reply to here.
I can phone and explain. Hence the email request.

Moving to another area would solve the problem - sorry, I had to say that.

is there a complicated issue with the met office software then? it seems ludicrous that it doesn't have the major uk cities as options! Don't worry about it - i'll just set the met office to my homepage - save you a lot of trouble!

Are you getting it from Bracknell?

Edit. Could you also give me link to the s/w you are using?

yeah they work but i remember one was forein and the other i couldn't get into celsius and i'm not so good with farenheight!

yeah i'm using http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/we.....refox.html

and i tried it on the vista software on another computer in same house and vaguely remember the same issue.

I can't get bracknell either - basically it is missing loads of the main areas and tried uninstalling and reinstalling etc. in north west on the drop down menu here there are loads of places to chose:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/we.....ather.html
on the built in software there are only 8! seems a bit weird don't you think!
the options it gives me are:
carlisle
crosby
keswick
shap
spadeadam
st bees head
walney island
woodford

half of these places even sound made up (sorry if anyone lives in shap or spadeadam!)

Infact it's only giving me the options available in this list:
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/we.....raphs.html

i don't get why though as they are both north west and surely i should be able to get manchester in the north west!

thanks guys

the more i look into this - it doesn't have any areas such as birmingham or leeds in the midlands or yorkshire, the only big city ont here is london! there isn't even a cardif in wales! is this just me or am i doing something stupidly wrong?

it appears it only has the place with the "latest forecast" rather than future - to be honest i can look out my window to find the latest - it's the future one i want! it seems a pretty pointless piece of software unless anyone can get it to forecast!

P.S. i know manchester airport has a met office weather station as i've seen it mentioned several times!

And. It looks like you are looking at just the coastal weather stations.

If you enter your postcode into the site you posted. Where does it give you?

Robert. I will download and try out this s/w tomorrow.

Edit. I tried it, and I see your problem.
Will investigate more.

thanks - it appears woodford isn't that far from me actually - about 20 miles so it doesn't matter but it's just really odd!

Trying phoning your local met station. See what they say. I've worked with them in the past, and they are normally a friendly bunch of folk :)
