I'm having an issue with an HP laptop running Windows Vista. It boots fine up until after the Welcome screen, but after that it can take a good 2 minutes or so for the desktop icons and taskbar to appear. All you see is the cursor until the rest loads.I've cleaned out all unnecessary programs and have disabled practically everything in the startup folder and I defragged the drive but nothing makes that part boot faster. Any ideas what can be the problem?

Sounds like a ram problem to me.
Try this... Mz RAM Booster 4.1
Do Not allow it to install any extras such as tool bars and such.
