Recommended: Clean Your Mac the Easy Way with CleanMyMac 3

If you want to clean up your Mac the easy way, CleanMyMac is a great tool to get the job done easily, and it will even keep your computer clean automatically.

Unlike the competition, it also includes great tools like a Clean Uninstaller, to get rid of applications and clean up the junk that they leave behind. All with the click of a button.

I have some jpg images which I edited and saved but inadvertantly saved over the originals.
Opening the image file gives the edited image.
The preview shows the edited image.
But the thumbnail still shows the original.

How can I retrieve the original from the thumbnail image? Where are the individual thumbnail image files located? I assume they are in Thumbs.db, but is there a way to get the individual images out of this file?

Thanks for any advice,

janetb, Welcome to HTG. I am afraid you can not retrieve the original images as it is since thumbnails are reduced-sized images of the originals used for organizing and recognizing them like in thumbnail view of Windows explorer or picture viewer programs.

What program did you use to edit the pictures?

You could try to get them back from a previous restore point. Here is how.
