(Solved) - Laptop restarting

I bought my asus x54c laptop last month with Windows 7. I noticed that whenever i try to shut down my laptop, it keeps restarting if its plugged into ac power source. It will shut down fine if its on battery. Could this problem be solved?

i tried changing power plan settings. but it still keeps restarting

You could try to update your BIOS. Go to the manufacturer page for driver downloads and select the last version for the BIOS. For the ASUS X54C the download page is this one:

Select your OS and download the latest BIOS version (208). Please notice that this kind of BIOS update should not be done unless something is not working properly (as it is with your computer).

Also you could try a static discharge. Power off your machine, unplug from AC, remove the battery, and press repeatedly the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the battery again in place and plug the computer to AC and see if the problem persists.
