HP Pavillion dv9727 w/ AMD Turion, 250 gb WDC drive, IDE channel controller, nForce 560 chipset, 3gb

I have the laptop w/Vista installed and I need to dual boot xp. I followed the instructions for setup. Shrunk and added a partition. E: drive (I left D: drive because it has the recovery software). All looks well in Vista: C: 133gb, D: 8gb, D: 87 gb, G: DVD drive

When I boot from the XP Pro disc to install it only shows the C: drive as C: Partition [UNKNOWN] 131072mb free.

My question? How can I get the E: partition to show up? I'm guessing it has something to do with a 3rdparty Drive bus adapter, but I'm not sure.

Further details: Quanta MB, AMD Turion 64 x 2, 3 gb RAM, 250gb HD, nForce 560chipset sontroller, Standard dual channel PCI IDE, MS iSCSI Initiator (not sure if this is relevant)

Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
Kevin

Is the E: partition formatted?

Yes, it is both partitioned and formatted. Yes it does show in Vista. I've sucessfully used it to load MS Virtual PC so it definitely works.

I'm trying to use an older CAD software that uses a usb hardware dongle and does not run under Vista. So I tried to use Virtual PC, but it doesn't support USB. So I am trying to dual boot the XP with Vista.

You can try using VMware Server.
It's free and supports USB.
Notes:
1. You do have to register (it's free) to get a serial number.
2. You have to goto the Virtual Machine properties and add a USB Controller after setting up a Virtual Machine in VMware to get USB support.
