Windows 7 was installed on my laptop.It was working fine but was a little slow due to viruses and stuff.So i decided to install a fresh copy of 7 .so i formatted the previously installed 7 and installed the new one on it now when i turn on my laptop.compac appears and then a ever lasting black screen, a cursor keeps blinking on upper left corner.plz help

Couple of things you could check
Check the boot order in the bios and make sure that the hard drive is detected there.
There may be a Hard Drive test utility in the bios, try running that to see if the hard drive is faulty.
Question did the laptop boot after the re-install ok?
