laptop doesn't hibernates properly.

i have windows 7 installed. for some days i m facing a problem that my laptop isn't hibernating properly. when i hibernates it, the display turns off, but the power remains on, i.e., the lights don't turns off. i have to long press the power button to emergency turn off my system. any suggestions???
