Very often I leave my laptop open while playing music or just after I'm done using it. I have my display set to turn off after about 20 minutes. Occasionally, after the display turns off, I can't turn it back on. The computer will respond to mouse and keyboard input, but it will not make the display turn on. The only way to make the display come back on is to close the lid and induce standby, and then open it back up to come out of standby. I've been having this problem intermittently, but lately it's been happening more often. I'm running XP on a Vista laptop. I never had this problem in Vista, so I realize it could be incompatibility issues. However, because it only happens some of the time, I believe it is fixable.. I just don't know how to fix it.

You mean the laptop was originally with Windows Vista and you're using XP instead now?
